Black Rabbit Productions certainly have a knack of pairing great tribute bands together as was proved again on Friday night at St Mary in the Castle at Hastings.
Now I have to admit that I’m not a great Kiss fan and don’t have a tremendous knowledge of their music but Snog have made me want to check it out a bit more. Decked out in authentic make-up, costumes and guitars they treated the enthusiastic crowd to over an hour of Kiss favourites and sounded really authentic and tight. They received huge applause and had people singing along to songs such as I Was Made For Loving You, Crazy, Crazy Nights and Detroit Rock City. Not only that after their set they stood in the audience posing for photos, chatting with people and supporting Guns 2 Roses. They were a great band and nice guys to boot. The certainly set the bar high for the next band.
Next up were Guns 2 Roses and another authentic looking and sounding band. For over an hour and a half they treated the crowd to the best of Guns and Roses, running through all the expected stuff such as Paradise City, Knockin’ on Heavens Door, Sweet Child O’ Mine and Live and Let Die together with a varied run through the back catalogue. By the time they left the stage the crowd were screaming for me. Stand out for me was the guitar playing of the young man portraying Slash, it was tremendous. The whole band embraced the G’n’R ethos and if, like me, you have never seen the real thing this was about as good a tribute as it gets. A tremendous finish to a tremendous evening. Roll on the next Black Rabbit Promotion in March next year when The Cure and Siouxsie & The Banshees Tributes come to Hastings.
