Faux Fighters and Nirvana UK rock St Mary in the Castle

Last night saw Black Rabbit Promotions bring two of the UK’s best tribute bands to the auditorium of St Mary In The Castle. By the end of the evening the rafters were ringing with the sound of great grunge and post-grunge rock’n’roll.

First up were the Faux Fighters. As the name suggests that ran through an hour of the work of the Foo Fighters. They certainly had the audience on their side with mosh circles constantly being created throughout their set. They kicked off with No Way Back and finished with Monkey Wrench, and during the course of their energetic one hour set included favourites such as Run, My Hero and Everlong. Highlight of the set was the sing-a-long version of Times Like These where jut the vocalist and his guitar led the audience through it. By the end of the set the qaudience were well and truely on the band’s side and following them was going to be extremely difficult.

Nirvana UK, however, managed to follow with great style. Kurt Cobain lookalike on guitar and vocals shredded his way through a ninety minute set that, in my view, captured the looseness of the original band. As you would expect they thundered their way through the best known tracks such as Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and All Apologies. Once again the audience responded enthusiastically and by the end of the set they were fully engaged with the band. So all in all a great night and one of many that Black Rabbit Productions are bringing to Hastings. Next up is Guns 2 Roses vs Kiss on Friday 22 November at St Mary in the Castle and for future events see below.
