Introducing a Message From The Ravens

I thought I would start this week by mentioning a local band that I have had the pleasure to listen to over the last couple of weeks, once at the Hastings Rocks Festival and once at the fantastic Frock Up Friday Fashion Parade on Friday night.

They are an all female band called Message From The Ravens and deliver a kind of folky, rocky, goth mix of self written music which, If I understand correctly, is based around myths and legends and they call “witchy punk”.

May be an image of 4 people and people standing

The band formed during lockdown with some of it’s members actually learning to play their instruments during that time. It is unusual to see a band that includes not just a flute but also a cello. What really impresses me about these girls though are their harmonies and their sheer joy at being on a stage playing this music. I was lucky enough to catch up with Lily and Hannah at the Frock Up Friday event and found them charming and full of enthusiasm in talking about their music.

So far the girls have nothing recorded but are looking at studio time in the next couple of months. I have a promise from them that as soon as there is anything in the can they will let me have it for broadcast. We also have a date in the diary for a Hastings Rock FM session when we return to a central studio. So at the moment there are only a few amateur videos available on their Facebook page and You Tube which does really not do their music justice but here is a link to the best quality one (1) Facebook

If you get the chance to see them live give it a go, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. You can also find them on Facebook at:
